Job Description
SENIOR DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONSDean for Student Life, will be the primary writer for the Vice Chancellor for Student Life and responsible for crafting and editing correspondence for key stakeholders: students, faculty, staff, and alumni; will develop executive-level communications such as letters, emails, video scripts, media statements, and presentations; will represent DSL among campus Communications leaders, support requests from the Chancellor’s Office, and ensure alignment with Institute-level messaging; will serve on teams managing campus emergency communications and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to consistently present DSL’s goals and achievements across channels such as emails, websites, videos, and social media; to manage DSL’s website, support stewardship efforts, and assist with speaking engagements and presentations; will build strong relationships with Communications leaders across MIT, working collaboratively to tell the story of student life, share critical information and consult with DSL department leaders on Communications initiatives leading a DSL Communicators group to ensure coordination and consistency throughout the division.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of experience; reliable writing, communication and collaboration skills; expertise in communications strategy, web technology, Microsoft Office, G-Suite, and multitasking in dynamic environments. Job #24393-11

This position has a hybrid work schedule, with both remote and on-campus work. Exact hybrid schedule to be determined according to departmental needs.

Salary range is $140k-$170K, exact offer dependent on experience and equity.
