Posting Description

AUTOMATION RESEARCH SPECIALIST, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research -High Throughput Sciences (HTS), to assume a pivotal role in operating and enhancing automation resources.  Will collaborate with world-renowned scientists and engineers to develop and productionize automated solutions to accelerate discoveries and shape the future of oncology and apply understanding of laboratory processes to solve scale and optimization problems to ensure HTS consistently delivers on high-quality data. Responsibilities include developing and executing SOPs for integrated liquid handling and analytical instruments; leading project-specific automated workflows; developing new software/hardware solutions; making data interoperable; managing training and onboarding; establishing strong partnerships with vendors for early access to new capabilities and prioritized service; coordinating HTS campaign scheduling; partnering with IT for data management; performing monitoring, troubleshooting, and other sustaining activities; participating in conferences to evaluate automation trends; and handling other duties as requested.  Duties may involve exerting light-to-medium force to move objects weighing 10-20 lbs.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in bioengineering, computer science, chemistry, biology, or related discipline; at least two years of related work experience operating and building integrated lab automation systems using automation/scheduling software (e.g., Freedom EVOware, Cellario); experience with common programming and data science tools (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C#, R, Azure/GCP/AWS, Docker); attention to detail; excellent communication, teaching, organizational, time management, and documentation skills; ability to work as part of a team and quickly adapt to shifting priorities; and discretion and judgment with confidential information.  PREFERRED:  master's degree, experience with high-content screening and compound/genetic library management, experience with biological data analysis, and supervisory experience.  Job #24080
