Posting Description

SENIOR PROGRAM ASSISTANT, SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE, performs complex and diverse duties in support of the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative. Responsibilities include: Certificate Program Coordination & Course Support (30%): Day-to-day Sustainability Certificate administration, student engagement activities, course logistics, guest lecturer coordination, and S-Lab project matching; Event Management (20%): Full lifecycle planning for speaker series, Advisory Board meetings, Certificate Graduation, and stakeholder engagement events; Research Project Coordination &  Researcher Onboarding (20%): Administrative liaison for two research projects, researcher onboarding/offboarding, payroll systems setup, and financial management; Accounting (15%): Procurement processing, vendor setup, payment processing, expense reconciliation, and MIT finance policy administration; General Administrative Support (15%): Calendar management, travel coordination, supplies purchasing, office operations, and stakeholder database management.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of five years of administrative, office, or related experience with progressively responsible administrative or program support experience; ability to work in-person at MIT Sloan (remote work options available); strong organizational skills managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously; and excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaboration skills with meticulous attention to detail. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree; MIT/MIT Sloan experience; experience with Salesforce, Canvas, content management systems, and financial platforms (SAP, Adaptive, Coupa); background in event management, grant/research project administration, or academic program coordination; and familiarity with sustainability concepts, ESG frameworks, climate policy, or sustainable business practices.
