Posting Description

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, Traverso Laboratory, to join a multidisciplinary team developing clinically relevant solutions to human disease; and support the preclinical development and in vivo evaluation of next-generation drug delivery devices, materials, and sensors in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research environment. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and conducting in vivo studies and related activities; maintaining supplies, assessing equipment needs, and coordinating maintenance and repairs; recording test results and maintaining accurate animal health records, project schedules, study data, and findings; contributing to protocol modifications and annual reviews; developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for in vivo activities; and summarizing and documenting research findings for investigators. Will present findings at laboratory meetings, conduct literature reviews as needed, and research and prepare content for presentations, grant applications, and fellowship proposals. Will ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and procedures, prepare the laboratory for inspections, identify and correct deficiencies, and maintain an organized and safe research environment. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and training lower-level staff, student employees, and temporary staff; communicating and interpreting laboratory standards, policies, and procedures; and supporting consistent documentation and execution of study activities.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology, pre-med, pre-vet, health sciences, or relevant field; two years of specialized lab experience (may include experience gained as an undergraduate); experience with sample collection and administration, IACUC protocols, and SOPs; demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills; careful attention to detail; sound judgment; and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively. PREFERRED: Experience with large and small animals in a research field; basic understanding of regulatory requirements; and AALAS (American Association of Laboratory Animal Science) and/or CVT (Certified Veterinary Technician) certification.

This is a one-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal. Renewal is contingent upon continued funding, ongoing project and operational needs, and satisfactory performance.
