Posting Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE II, BIOBANKING/TISSUE ENGINEERING, Biological Engineering - Griffith lab, to provide key technical support for biobanking cells from patient biopsies, cell and organoid culture, and laboratory assay activities that support the endometriosis research team and a newly awarded NIH center grant focused on novel approach methodologies (NAMs) for Women’s Health; support the collection, processing (cell isolation), organization, tracking, storage, and use of human biospecimens and associated research workflows for studies of endometriosis and other gynecologic disorders, interacting with clinical teams when necessary; and support development and application of patient-informed in vitro microphysiological systems and will contribute to laboratory activities involving cell culture,3D culture including organoids, ELISA, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, image analysis, and related assays.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in biology, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related technical discipline; a minimum of four years of biological research experience (which can include experience gained as an undergraduate); a minimum of two years of cell culture experience; experience with aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture, handling and processing of human tissue or biospecimens, ELISA and other plate-based assays, immunostaining, immunofluorescence, sample tracking, recordkeeping, and laboratory documentation, and standard laboratory equipment such as microscopes and spectrophotometers; be detail-oriented, highly organized, and excellent record keepers; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work both collaboratively and independently, manage multiple priorities, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain high standards of reproducibility and documentation; and proficiency with standard computer programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. PREFERRED: Master’s degree; experience with biobanking, human specimen handling, translational research, or women’s health research; and experience with 3D culture, organoids, tissue engineering, microphysiological systems, or biomaterials.

Experimental protocols may require occasional weekend hours.

This is a 1 year position with a possibility of an extension based on funding availability.
