Posting Description

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL REPORTING, Campus Services and Stewardship, to build and lead high-performing accounting and financial reporting team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration; manage complex cost accounting framework for facilities maintenance and construction projects; direct month/quarter/year-end close processes and financial reporting; oversee construction accounting, ensuring GAAP compliance and proper capitalization; monitor financial performance against budgets with actionable variance analysis; strengthen internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance; lead process improvement initiatives to optimize financial operations; and develop strategic partnerships with key MIT offices including VP Finance and IS&T.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; a minimum of ten years of progressive accounting experience; advanced knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial systems; demonstrated experience with facilities/construction accounting; and robust analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data. PREFERRED: Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or MBA; CPA certification; experience in higher education financial management; knowledge of MIT financial policies and operational systems; experience managing construction project accounting; and exceptional team management and collaboration abilities.
