Posting Description

SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, MIT Climate, will often be the first point of contact for external partners, potential donors, and high-profile individuals, and must represent professionally the VPEC, the Climate Project, and the mission of the organization; thoughtfully evaluate and strategically address situations as they arise; and provide support to the VPEC to address multiple, competing demands and will need to adapt quickly to address problems as they arise. Vice President for Climate (VPEC) provides strategic leadership and direction for MIT in the areas of climate research, translation, innovation, education, and public and industry engagement. The VPEC leads the Climate Project, overseeing the work of the Climate Missions, Frontier projects, and Climate HQ. Climate HQ is an administrative, operational, and coordinating arm for the Climate Project, and provides shared services to the Climate Missions to help them achieve practical impact at scale. The VPEC builds and sustains relationships within the MIT community and externally and plays a lead role in resource development to enable important new work on climate.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma and a minimum of five years of administrative support; excellent communication, interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills; experience and proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications; ability to be flexible, skilled, proactive, to work both independently and as part of a team, balance multiple tasks concurrently, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a busy office setting with frequent interruptions; comfortable interacting with senior leaders from inside and outside of MIT; experience organizing and managing meetings and events; discretion with confidential information/issues; able to work under pressure of deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
