Posting Description

COMMUNICATIONS AND SPECIAL PROJECTS OFFICER, Vice President for Research (OVPR), will play a key role on the OVPR’s communications team, reporting to the Director of Communications, exercising significant independent judgment and leading implementation of both day-to-day communications projects and longer-term special projects. Will apply an understanding of the federal funding environment and other complex topics to develop content for these varied audiences through multiple communications channels; use high-quality communications to help OVPR deliver best-in-class service to MIT constituencies; coordinate with a network of communications and research administration professionals across the Institute; and ensure that the OVPR is providing accurate, timely, accessible, and compelling information to the MIT research community regarding research administration, policy, and compliance, as well as other OVPR issues, in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of MIT’s research enterprise, especially given that the research funding environment is complex and rapidly evolving.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of seven years of experience in communications, program/project management, or related field; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Skills in short- and long-range planning, program/project management, facilitation and collaboration; an appreciation for the distinctive culture and values of MIT; robust writing and editing skills; ability to write effectively under deadline pressure; ability to distill complex information, including quantitative data, into compelling, accessible communications, both written and graphic; proficiency with a range of communication platforms, including print, video, photography, audio, email, social media, and web; advanced Microsoft Office suite skills; and proficiency with Mailchimp and collaborative tools such as Google Docs. PREFERRED: Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Drupal and Qualtrics; and experience in higher education. Job #24901-9
