Job Description

SENIOR DIGITAL SPECIALIST, Institute Office of Communications (IOC), to manage MIT’s audio/podcast efforts and support its broader digital communications.  Will lead production of IOC-produced podcasts and manage their platforms, including content creation, scriptwriting, interviewing, podcast promotion, and transcript editing; develop engaging and relevant content ideas, conduct research, and plan episodes effectively; write and edit scripts, including introductions, transitions, interviews, and outros; conduct interviews with guests, asking insightful questions and guiding conversations to keep them engaging and on-topic; edit transcripts to produce clean and engaging content; play a leading role in managing MIT’s greater podcast presence, working with producers across MIT to pull in audio content to IOC-managed platforms; manage production schedules, coordinate with guests or co-hosts, and ensure episodes are published on time; and track audience growth, listener demographics, and engagement metrics.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least five years of experience in podcast production and promotion; strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people through various channels; familiarity with recording equipment (e.g., RODECaster Pro), podcast hosting platforms (e.g., Apple, Blubrry, Spotify, etc.), and podcast marketing strategies; adaptability to changes in the podcasting industry and ability to experiment with different formats; and an interest in podcasting, including a desire and willingness to stay up-to-date with industry trends, listen to other podcasts, and seek ways to improve the podcasts.  PREFERRED:  UX experience. Job #23967-8
