Job Description

DIGITAL LEARNING LABORATORY (DLL) FELLOW, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to work in education development, research, and strategy by advancing research in the learning sciences and digital and residential learning tools for engineering and other STEM disciplines. This includes developing residential and online courses and learning tools to enhance online, in-person, and blended learning through collaborating with instructors with building massive open online classes (MOOCs) on the EdX platform, develop residential classes or modules on MITx, and contribute original education content.  Will support digital learning in residential education (e.g., Canvas, MITx modules, OpenCouseWare (OCW), etc.); lead the teaching of MOOCs and MIT MechE residential courses in supporting roles as blended or digital courses; and evaluate course effectiveness by performing quality control reviews on courses and assist with the development and maintenance of the digital learning strategy for the department. May collaborate on writing grant proposals for internal education research and innovation grants.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. degree in engineering or science; knowledge within mechanical engineering; demonstrated excellence in teaching and developing mechanical engineering courses; experience implementing best practices in education and innovating models and tools within STEM education; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment; ability to manage a team; strong organizational and problem-solving skills; and knowledge of or ability to learn MATLAB, Python, learning management systems (LMS), and web publication tools.  Job #22921
