Open Rank Faculty Positions in Translational Metabolomics
  • Requisition ID #: 31367
  • Job Category: Faculty - Research
  • Department: Cancer Center
  • Division: NA
  • City, State: Milwaukee, WI
  • Work Location: Clinical Cancer Center

Position Description:

The Froedtert Health Network (FHN), Children’s Wisconsin (CHW), Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), and the MCW Cancer Center (CC) have launched a Translational Metabolomics initiative. This initiative expands an already robust Metabolomics environment that offers a strong cadre of basic and clinician scientists invested in metabolomics, redox biology, chemical biology, glycobiology, mass spectrometry, and a rapidly growing radiomics and pathomics focus group. The Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus includes MCW, the Cancer Center, the Versiti Blood Research Institute, the Versiti Translational Glycomics Center, the Center for Imaging Research and the Genomic Sciences and Precision Medicine Center. It is the hub for the Froedtert Health Network and Children’s Wisconsin.

The cutting-edge translational MCW Cancer Center is supported by strong collaborations between MCW faculty members and clinicians, spanning the bench-to-bedside and bedside-to-bench continuum. New faculty will benefit from the extensive growth of the MCW Cancer Center, which is investing $100 million in five parallel research initiatives that include metabolomics, immune-oncology, structural biology, precision oncology, and community-driven research. The Cancer Center supports more than 200 ongoing clinical trials and has also invested significantly in research infrastructure including a new Cancer Research Building to be completed in 2024, state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility to be completed in 2023, and expansion of a mass spectrometry facility with installation of several new mass spectrometers in 2023.

Position Requirements:

MCW Cancer Center invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor with the long-term goal of developing and translating novel approaches for metabolome, proteome, lipidome, and glycome analyses and imaging in biomedical sciences to define new therapeutic targets. Endowed chairs in Translational Metabolomics are available for qualified senior candidates with exceptional creativity and track record. Candidates with research interests in cancer using mass spectrometry tools are especially encouraged to apply. The faculty appointment will be in an appropriate basic science or clinical department at MCW.

Eligible candidates must have an MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with achievement, experience, training and teaching activities. We will provide competitive salary support, generous benefits package and start-up funds, and outstanding opportunities for collaboration with basic, translational, and clinical investigators. Metro-Milwaukee is a vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. MCW is intent on attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse workforce and faculty body that reflects the community we serve. MCW is an affirmative action / equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in hiring or employment based on age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, disability, or sexual orientation.
