The Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) is a health care professional that, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified physician, participates in procedures to perform various cardiovascular/peripheral vascular diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The CVT also participates in interventional cardiovascular atheterization and/or cardiac electrophysiology procedures, including balloon angioplasty, stent insertion,
radiofrequency ablation, and pacemaker and/or implantable defibrillator insertion while maintaining maximum patient
safety.
Requires graduation from an accredited technical program, college or university degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiopulmonary Technology. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS).
Associates Degree in radiology or cardiopulmonary
technology. 2 years or more of experience in radiology or cardiopulmonary technology.
