We are looking for analysts to join our team in the Human Services unit. Analysts are part of our professional staff that includes researchers from the fields of public policy, economics, and other social sciences, learning and improvement partners, strategy advisers, product innovators, and data scientists. They work on projects across domestic policy areas, which include education across the lifespan (including early childhood, K-12, postsecondary, and adult education), labor, economic mobility, nutrition, family support, child development, criminal justice, and related topics.

Specifically, we are seeking analysts in the program development, support, and improvement specialization. Human Services Analyst – Program development, support, and improvement staff collaborate with programs to identify, design, guide, and carry out innovation and quality improvement efforts, deliver program technical assistance and training, and contribute to the development of products such as trainings, written tools, reports, and videos.

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with diverse clients and stakeholders to build trust and rapport, gather input, provide high-quality work, thoughtful recommendations, and responsive communication
  • Translating research knowledge and experience into actionable, relevant information to support decision making and strategy development
  • Developing products, such as (1) memoranda and executive summaries of key findings, recommendations for improvement, and practice-focused lessons learned; (2) practitioner-focused documents, including implementation guidance, training curricula, and strategic planning tools; (3) case study and lessons learned briefs; and (4) evaluation findings or portfolio performance reports. This may include developing data visualizations to enhance the accessibility of findings.
  • Contributing to the oversight of projects, including financial monitoring and participating in internal project management and quality assurance procedures

The following projects illustrate our commitment to improving public well-being:

  • Boost student achievement and other education outcomes by helping states and school districts build capacity to use data and strengthen supports for educators and students
  • Provide learning and evaluation support to grantees focused on improving middle and high school math curricula and pedagogy
  • Facilitate a networked improvement community made up of school districts using continuous improvement to address student absenteeism and lost contact due to the pandemic
  • Partner with workforce development programs to strengthen the implementation of interventions serving youth and conduct rapid-cycle formative testing
  • Reduce barriers to participation in nutrition assistance programs such as SNAP and WIC, and assess effectiveness on the food security and well-being of families with low incomes

Position Requirements:

  • Understanding of measurement and evaluation; ability to adapt methods to stakeholders’ capacities and needs
  • Ability to identify and collect data, and perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Ability to assess the needs of education or employment programs and develop technical assistance plans to address those needs, consistent with adult learning principles
  • Ability to use evidence to inform decision making or make concrete recommendations
  • Ability to identify and integrate equity strategies into research and evaluation design, data collection, interpretation, and reporting
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to deal tactfully with clients and stakeholders, engage with diverse partners, and facilitate joint problem solving
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including for non-technical audiences
  • Prior experience working with/in federal, state, or local agencies focused on education and/or employment (for example, school districts or workforce development departments). Work with/in agencies serving marginalized communities is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • Willingness to travel domestically, up to 25% time, as needed (travel is not occurring during the public health crisis)

Additional requirements for the program development, support, and improvement specialization include:

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with or in federal, state, or local agencies focused on education and/or employment, and knowledge of at least one relevant policy area, such as early childhood education; K-12 and/or postsecondary education; employment or workforce programs; and food security, among others.
  • Experience in design thinking or human-centered design is preferred.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $60,000-$90,000. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.

Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of working on certain projects. If you are assigned to such a project, you will be required to obtain the requisite security clearance.
