Business Unit: Terminals

Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs.  Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.

Primary purpose:

This is a junior level analyst position that is responsible for the coordination and analysis of CAPEX related financial forecasts and budgets for Terminals business unit.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordination and consolidation of CAPEX forecasts for Terminals business unit; assist area personnel to ensure data accuracy
  • Coordination and consolidation of annual budget and long range planning processes.
  • Managing regional update process of master Expansion capital file including validating incremental earnings.
  • Assist in tracking of Expansion capex project profitability based on changes in project costs.
  • Monthly analysis of actual results versus forecast and budget.
  • Prepare financial analysis for monthly and quarterly reporting of project costs.
  • Manage data integrity within Hyperion forecast system through coordination with property accounting, regional capital controller and IT group as needed
  • Prepare special projects and perform research as requested by management.

 



Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

 

Experience / Specific Knowledge:

  • 0 to 3 years of experience working in a financial/accounting environment.
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of Accounting and Financial principles
  • Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • General understanding with computerized accounting systems, financial modeling, budgets, operations analysis, and management reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) for the purpose of word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of personnel across various disciplines.
  • Proactive and self-sufficient.
