Position Description Primary Purpose:Responsible for general oversight of all equipment within the field, both rotating and fixed. This includes the direct supervision of mechanics, electricians and various contractors. Essential duties and responsibilities:Responsible for effective and efficient supervision of all maintenance programs and activities to ensure the proper and safe operation condition of assets and equipment.Effective supervision, development, motivation, and appraisal of subordinates. Maintain appropriate crew levels.Ensure all work performed is in compliance with company environmental, health, and safety policies.Schedule and supervise the daily activities of all maintenance staff.Generate work orders for heavy equipment, rolling stock equipment, and follow progress to completion.Track maintenance costs (by facility and equipment). Ensure objectives and costs are achieved and consistent with budgetary constraints.Problem solver and creative thinker in order to provide solutions to improving the equipment performance.Advise terminal management of progress toward objectives and develop strategies for necessary adjustments.Serve as trainer in the instruction of facility staff and operators toward required maintenance activities.Receive and maintain equipment documentation (blue prints, technical manuals, operational manuals) and serve as the facility technical resource in their review and use.Through inventory tracking, ensure that critical needs for parts and services are available.Maintain preventative maintenance program and software.Accept supervision and effectively interface with customer representatives, regulators, KM staff and others as required.Provide technical leadership to the maintenance group.Prepare reliability plans for critical equipment.Responsible for ensuring that unscheduled work orders are addressed in a timely manner.Provide support to operations to ensure downtime is minimized.Fulfill various roles and responsibilities related to compliance with regulatory agencies.Recognize and promote ideas that provide safer, more efficient and cost effective operation, making sure that operating costs are consistent with budgetary constraints.All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience / Specific knowledge:A minimum of 5 years of previous successful work experience industrial maintenance is required.Experience maintaining heavy industrial rolling equipment (front-end loaders, dozers, cranes) and/or conveyor systems is preferred.A minimum of 3 year of supervisory experience is required.Previous experience in the use of a preventive maintenance tracking program is desired. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and current, valid State driver’s license are required.Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials) card.Competencies, Skills, and Abilities:Good oral and written communications.Must be proficient in the use of computer and applications (Microsoft Office, database, and internet search engines).Ability to perform job duties with little or no supervision.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Ability to work safely and direct the maintenance department to work safely, with an emphasis on following procedures and best management practices. Ability to interact with regulatory agencies and peers with self-confidence, poise, and professionalism.Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.Physical demands:Must be able to respond to call outs on a 24 hour emergency basisMust be able to work long hours, in excess of 12 hours, when requiredMust be able to climb ladders and stairsWilling and able to work at heights up to 100 feetAble to negotiate uneven surfacesAble to carry up to 50 lbs Working conditions:Position is generally assigned a daytime schedule but will be required to work extended hours to include nights and weekends.Must be available for 24 hour call-in.Tasks are performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
