The Operations Specialist position is based out of Kinder Morgan’s Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) Hawley, Pennsylvania Compressor Station No. 323. This is a Monday through Friday position with some on-call responsibilities nights and weekends. Any electrical or controls experience is a plus.
Primary Purpose:
The Operations Specialist will primarily be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of natural gas compressor units, onsite power generation units, related ancillary equipment, and pipeline facilities. The successful candidate will be a strong team contributor with a proactive approach to balance planned and emergent work. Our Operations Specialists are responsible for operating, performing routine service and maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnosing turbine and electric motor driven gas compressor sets, variable frequency drives, electric motors, generators, pumps, valves, valve operators, relief valves, etc. Responsibilities also include performing operation and maintenance tasks on pipelines and pipeline related equipment. Additional responsibilities include:
Maintain and contribute to the safe operation of Company assets
Train and qualify to complete relevant DOT covered tasks
Start, stop and operate turbine and motor driven compressors to maintain designated operating parameters and meet customer demands
Identify facility and equipment malfunctions and take immediate corrective action when safe to repair
Follow developed job procedures, site specific work plans and O&M policy and identify areas for procedural improvements
Ensure the cost effective operation and efficient performance of all engines and associated equipment
Continuously review facility operations and adjust for optimization
Complete general upkeep, housekeeping and maintenance of all facilities and equipment, including remote locations
Lead pipeline pigging activities for maintenance and assist with ILI
Complete detailed reports and documentation for record keeping
Maintenance and perform limited repairs to facility equipment (e.g., wheeled tractors, pick-up trucks, fork lifts, pneumatic pumps, air compressors, coolers)
Assist with the creation, planning, forecasting and managing of the district’s budgets
Communicate articulately with work group, service providers and larger audiences
Perform one-call locates and pipeline damage prevention activities
Must live within a 35 minute response/travel time to work location
Will require minimal out of town travel (1 week per year).
