Position Description: This position will be responsible for designing, checking and maintaining various drawings using standard CAD packages. This position will coordinate activities with designers, drafters, engineering, and other functions related to construction and maintenance of Kinder Morgan assets and maintain design/drafting documentation and records making sure that drawings comply with regulations and company requirements. This position reports to the Design and Drafting Supervisor for Products Pipelines/Midstream. Duties and Responsibilities include following but not limited to: - Assist the Supervisor in all aspects.
- Coordinate and distribute assignments when the Supervisor is unavailable.
- Conducts QA/QC reviews of all drawings and drawing packages before submitting them to the customer for issuance.
- Works as a team player with the engineering project managers, and the design team to establish various types of CADD drawing package
- Ability to be a working lead.
- Attends project meetings, kickoffs and other events when invited by the Project Leads or Supervisor.
- Help develop completed drawing packages in accordance with the KM standard drawing format.
- Develop and/or create various types of drawings: P&ID’s Plot Plans, Diagrams ect.
- Develop/ensure completed drawing packages for IFA (Issued for Approval), IFB (Issued for Bid) and IFC (Issued for Construction) in accordance with the KM standard drawing format.
- Utilize raster-editing software.
- Provides field sketches for piping design.
- Works with x-ref supported drawing files.
- Utilize Company document management system (Meridian system) or equivalent DM systems.
- Strong organizational skills are required, as well as the ability to prioritize work.
- Selects material for pipes and components to meet established design requirements.
- Interpreted and complied with piping design standards and specifications.
- Understands adequate spacing requirements for equipment and piping layout.
- Understand the function of measurement equipment and process piping.
- Understands the function of Midstream Pipeline Facilities.
- Understand terminology, material nomenclature, specification, symbology, and acronyms of Kinder
- Morgan and industry standards into drawings and related work outputs.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with coworkers and engineering department personnel.
- Ability to work on both As-built projects and Construction Projects Simultaneously.
- Other Duties and Responsibilities as requested.
Position Requirements and Skills include but not limited to: - Minimum of 7 to 10 years’ experience with Associates Degree.
- A minimum of 10 to 12 years’ experience without Associates Degree.
- A minimum of 7 to 10 years’ experience in Midstream Design.
- Excellent working knowledge of 3D and 2D pipeline design software (i.e. CADWorx, AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Electrical).
- Working fundamental knowledge of the construction and operation of natural gas pipelines facilities.
- A technical understanding of plant design including but not limited to Compressor station design, Meter station and PSM facilities components and characteristics of Plant material and data associated with high pressure gas pipeline stations. Previous experience in the Midstream Natural Gas industry is required.
- Knowledge and experience using Windows Office suite.
- Must have good communication skills, written & verbal, work with minimal supervision, and simultaneously manage multiple projects to meet scheduled deadlines.
- Ability to initiate and maintain good working relationships with other functions, internal and external customers.
- Previous Lead experience.
- Demonstrated high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets, employees, and the public.
- Candidate should possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Education:
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.
Working Condition:
- Office cubicle, CADD Station
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Position may require lift of up to 25lbs.
- Occasional flied visits are required.
- Some travel to other offices may be required.
