The measurement technician is based out of Kinder Morgan’s Elba Island Facility located at 1 Elba Island Road, Savannah, GA 31410. Kinder Morgan offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, two retirement plans, paid holidays, and paid time off.  Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America.

Primary purpose:

  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation and accuracy of all natural gas and/or liquid measurement and control facilities

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and remove advanced measurement, control and regulation equipment, SCADA and quality equipment 
  • Detect measurement error and correct volumes as needed and provide supporting documentation 
  • Monitor gas and liquid product volumes through the measurement system, ensure all corrections are applied and proper qualities are applied
  • Interpret and apply electrical and electronic schematics pertaining to EFM and measurement electronics 
  • Assess all facets of assigned facilities to ensure accurate measurement and maintaining the company lost and unaccounted for gas and product with a high degree of ownership within the established corporate goals
  • Perform audits of custody transfer and control data when necessary
  • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed
  • Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned



Minimum requirements:
 
Education:

  • Associates degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience

Experience/specific knowledge:

  • Basic computer skills of MS Office, operating systems, company software
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Codes
  • Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies after regular business hours including after dark hours, which may require carrying a communication device
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high pressure systems
  • Knowledge with electronic test instruments
  • Knowledge of gas and liquid chromatography
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment used in gas and liquid product measurement and control
  • Knowledge of AGA, API, and GPA measurement standards 

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • Possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements
  • May be required to possess a commercial driver’s license, drive a company commercial vehicle and comply with all commercial vehicle regulations
  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties

Physical demands:

  • Physical ability to lift as much as 50lbs, bend/stoop, kneel and climb stairs/ladders
  • Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion included

Working conditions:

  • May work in low-lit areas
  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to climb to and work from elevated platforms, climb to heights exceeding 150 feet, climb ladders, and walkways, etc.
  • Depending upon the location and workload, travel will be required
  • Available for shift work when applicable
