Primary Purpose: Pipeline Data Systems has three departments - PODS, Compliance Systems and MAOP Verification. The PODS Natural Gas Supervisor is within the PODS data services team and leads a team of around thirteen (13) employees responsible for ensuring PODS data accuracy and integrity associated with over 60,000 miles of natural gas pipelines in an enterprise database using the industry standard data model, Pipeline Open Data Systems (PODS) as the data storage structure. The PODS Supervisor will also be responsible for supporting the PODS Manager in the continued database management practices and outreach to existing and new internal customers to improve information sharing and analytics to support the business. Essential duties and responsibilities: - Supervise and provide leadership for a team of around thirteen (13) in the PDS PODS group.
- Work with other PODS leaders to manage and assign work to PODS editors from AFE’s, internal customer data edits, new line requests, and other structured and unstructured sources.
- Develop meaningful metrics for PDS PODS projects and initiatives to report progress to the PODS Manager on a weekly basis.
- Support data requests and audits – as needed provide support for data/analysis requests, non PDS PODS project support, audits, etc.
- A PODS core technical team member with responsibilities such as trouble shooting data and software issues and developing training material for and providing training on the KM PODS Spatial data model, the KM PODS Spatial editing software, and the KM PODS Spatial editing procedures.
- Responsible for the continuous improvement and maintenance of the KM PODS processes, procedures, and protocols.
- Responsible for continuous improvement in internal customer support and response to emergency situations and/or data requests.
- Support the PODS Manager by assisting in the development of PDS PODS goals, projects, initiatives, and priorities.
- Monitor and help drive adherence to company policy to help make sure our goals and objectives are met as they pertain particularly to company goals and compliance to regulation.
Minimum requirements: Education: - A minimum of 5 years of experience in the pipeline industry data management field.
- A bachelor’s in Geography, GIS, Planning, Natural Resources, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields from an accredited institution is required. Related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience / specific knowledge: - Fundamental knowledge of design, construction, operation of and regulatory requirements of high pressure gas pipelines.
- Fundemental and working knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192.
- Experience translating pipeline construction project files into data points stored in a geospatial database such as: extracting pipeline routing info, pipe and component material properites, pressure testing and welding info.
- Experience identifying and resolving data discrepancies.
- Experience with records management environments.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required - Specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position: - Intermediate ESRI GIS skills - Technical understanding and 5+ years of firsthand experience with ESRI application suite.
- Strong ability to interpret pipeline construction source records with 8+ years of as-builting with emphasis on natural gas transmission pipelines.
- Ability to analyze ILI data to support pipeline routing, measurement between features and location of components.
- Strong project coordination, planning and overall management skills. A history of executing projects with challenging circumstances is preferred.
