Primary Purpose:

This position is primarily responsible for day to day customer product movement transaction processing, and customer product inventory accounting. It requires active participation in, and conformance to, the Kinder Morgan Safety, Quality, and Environmental culture, including adherence to all KM policies and procedures, active participation in daily SQE talks and required company provided training , and reporting of any/all incidents and/or near misses. This position will also be required to fulfill the responsibilities of other administrative positions, such as Scale Operator, when necessary to provide the appropriate level of customer service.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Customer Service Representative responsibilities include:
  • Communicating with all customers, verbally and electronically, to understand their needs and their processes
  • Receiving and entering customer order information into Kinder Morgan and customer systems
  • Thorough and accurate preparation, verification, and processing of product movement associated paperwork
  • Reconciling receipts, shipments, and inventory
  • Track and document inventory variances, reporting excessive variances to your supervisor
  • Enter billable services and charges in Kinder Morgan systems
  • Review and understand customer contracts to ensure the services being provided are defined in the contract.
  • Review monthly invoices to ensure accuracy 

Scale Operator coverage responsibilities include:
  • Training/learning the necessary procedures for each scale
  • Weighing trucks on a scale
  • Calculation of material shipped or received
  • Order processing and creation of shipping papers using Kinder Morgan or Customer systems
  • Enforce the Kinder Morgan truck driver safety policy, ensuring drivers compliance 

General responsibilities include:
  • Actively participate in the process improvement/KPI process
  • Appropriately greet and communicate with visitors and customers.
  • Attend and retain knowledge transferred during Kinder Morgan provided training
  • Understand and comply with telephone etiquette procedures
  • Understand and comply with shipper confidentiality requirements when discussing shipper accounts
  • Comply with filing procedures.
  • Communicate with customers per their agreed upon requirements
  • Write and type grammatically correct communications.
  • Understand and perform basic office IT system and application troubleshooting (PCs, printing, networking, MS Office, Galahad)
  • Operation of automated truck loading systems
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area; identification and elimination injury hazards; and filing of paperwork



Competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimal and whole numbers.
  • Ability to do basic troubleshooting of common office PC computer, printing, application, and automation issues.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Excel is required as well as the Ability to create and maintain useful, efficient, and organized spreadsheets, pivot tables, and charts.
  • Electronically import or manually input data into spreadsheets on a daily basis and prepare accurate periodic reports. Along with tracking inventory, this position will require the ability to deal with customer issues in a professional manner; via email, fax, by phone, and in person


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work in the outdoor environment, occasionally, taking inventory counts of products in the facility.
  • Must be able to lift and move storage and file boxes of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear hard had, steel toed safety boots, safety glasses, gloves, and appropriate weather specific clothing.
  • Must be able to safely navigate on paved and unpaved walking surfaces where mud, water, ice, or snow may be encountered.
  • Must be able to safely recognize and navigate over or around walking surface hazards (slip, trip, falls).
  • Must be able to walk up and down 2 flights of stairs

Working Conditions:

  • Typical industrial indoor office with occasional walking outdoors
  • Must be able to arrive at work location on every scheduled day and must work extended hours as needed to provide the appropriate level of customer service.
  • Must be able to take direction / supervision and work cooperatively with other people.
  • Must successfully pass a company drug screen and background check upon job offer
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or state-issued photo identification card.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience operations bulk storage, conveying and processing equipment
• Experience operating mobile equipment including skid loaders, forklifts, heavy haul mobile equipment
• Able to withstand extreme weather conditions; majority of the time will be working outside
• Able to work from written and verbal instructions
• Able to work as a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and take on other duties as assigned
• Have the willingness and ability to cross train into other areas of the terminal, example: Operate the grain leg, operate a front end loader safely and efficiently (loading trucks and pushing product), operate a forklift; learn other process in the terminal, examples: cement terminal and vermiculite processing terminal
• Able to take initiative and work with co-workers to accomplish defined goals in a fast paced environment
• Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
• Positively interact with customers and respond to customer inquiries

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, cold, heat, rain, etc.
• Ability to walk up ladders, walk on barges and rail cars
• Ability e hand tools while working on above ground while wearing personal fall protection
• Ability to adapt to fluctuating hours of operation depending on the customer demand. Workload is dependent upon the seasonal applications
• Ability to lift as much as 50 lbs. as high as waist level
• Ability to climb ladders and 150 feet of stairs throughout the day
• Ability to work around water
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to wear a full face respirator and to be fit tested
• Ability work in cement and fertilizer dust with appropriate PPE
• Ability to work inside a cement product barge
• Ability to work in confined space; dusty and dirty environment

Compensation:
$52,600-$73,600
Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
