The Warehouse Attendant position is based out of Kinder Morgan’s Southern Natural Gas (SNG) Birmingham Warehouse located at 1501 Meadowcraft Road, Birmingham, AL 35215.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments, and coordinate outbound shipments.  Fulfil customer requests for materials and assist with the disposition of surplus material.  Operate warehouse equipment. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Material Handling:

  • Load materials onto truck, covered van or flat bed.
  • Unload, count, mark and reconcile materials.
  • Assist with logistics coordination to transport materials.
  • Deliver material to field locations, as needed.
  • Operate forklifts, vehicles and equipment, as required.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on forklift, vehicle, and equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety certifications as required by company (forklift certification, Smith driving).
  • Turn off and secure or lock up equipment when not in use.
  • Clean and maintain workspace and operating area.

 

Inventory Management:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of inventory concepts and ability to transact in company’s inventory system
  • Organize yard, shelf and pallet inventory.
  • Perform cycle counts and coordinate field audits
  • Resolve any material discrepancies, shortages, or damages

 

Investment Recovery:

  • Facilitate surplus sales and redeployments throughout Kinder Morgan.
  • Act as a liaison between the Business Unit and the Investment Recovery Company.
  • Work with internal and external customers to achieve annual investment recovery goal.
  • Execute Purchase Agreements and Bills of Sale.

 

Project Support:

  • Stage project materials and prepare materials for shipment (shrink wrapping, banding, boxing, labeling).
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of orders for project materials delivered to staging warehouse.
  • Assist buyers and vendors with material order issues.
  • Provide timely updates to Project Management on project material status.
  • Coordinate loading out of project materials with contractors, freight carriers and/ KM personnel

Education:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

 

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • 3-5 years of warehouse experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications including, but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

 

Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to multitask while providing timely and accurate turnaround on tasks, sometimes with strict deadlines.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.

 

Physical Demands:

  • May have to lift (from floor to waist) and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Travel may be required across a broad geographic region.
  • Job level and salary commensurate with experience and skill sets.
  • Must be willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
  • Must be available to respond to call-out as assigned.
  • Perform work in dusty environment and all types of temperature/weather conditions.

 

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Background in oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge of Kinder Morgan business
  • Knowledge of materials such as pipe, valves, and fittings.
  • Experience with Lawson Inventory Control, Requisition and Procurement modules.
  • Understand engineering standards.
