This position may be located in Birmingham Al. of Houston Tx. PRIMARY PURPOSE: - Ensure Kinder Morgan employees understand and adhere to Kinder Morgan’s Information Governance Policy and Procedures through training, process review, and sharing best practices.
- Provide Information Governance (IG) expertise on specific projects or subject matter areas of records and information governance to functional areas in the organization.
- Assist in the operational aspects of Kinder Morgan’s IG department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Must be able to multi-task and determine the priority of each task to stay on track. Be organized and have an attention to detail. Be able to work on their own, independently, without supervision or step by step guidance.
- Participate in management of corporate information assets (regardless of format) throughout the records lifecycle (including but not limited to: creation, storage, disposition, final destruction, etc.)
- Maintain the business workflows for the research, creation, classification, access, maintenance, and compliance of the Engineering Project information. Included but not limited to data entry for project information, statistics, identifying, cataloguing and err checking and correction of errors.
- Provide quality control and strategies to ensure integrity of the Engineering records and related material
- Must be able to process invoices, which will include but not limited to account coding, account inputting and a broad understanding of financial activity.
- Support Information Governance training to ensure compliance with Kinder Morgan’s Policies and Directives
- Physical management of offsite storage requests and returns
- Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism
- Participate in maintenance of records working groups at business unit level and act as liaison with assigned business unit and shared services employees
- Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully
- Write effectively, and understand verbal and written communications, including but not limited to email
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance
- Maintain a strong professional and positive attitude
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public
- Other duties as assigned to ensure records and information governance compliance across the enterprise
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE: - Minimum two years of college, and/or a minimum of three to five years of experience in record management systems or an applicable Business environment
- Basic understanding of records management concepts and principles
- Knowledge of engineering documentation, procedures, & processes are helpful
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: - Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel)
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - Ability to apply IG knowledge to practical issues and problems
- Advanced proficiency levels in Microsoft applications, including but may not be limited to: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, developing and analyzing data on spreadsheets, and information retrieval; and the FileTrail and FileNet applications are preferred but not required.
- Ability to organize, schedule, and prioritize departmental and individual work to meet various schedules and objectives, and prioritize on short notice and as needed
- Ability to complete projects as assigned
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, meet various deadlines and work with minimal direct supervision
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications, with the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels, internally and externally
- Ability to work with a team

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to lift up to 40 pounds to at least waist and above shoulders
- Must be physically able to work standing, sitting or walking for long periods
WORKING CONDITIONS: - Based in KM corporate office in Birmingham, AL
- Hybrid Schedule alongside a 9/80 work week are available options. Operational needs take precedence over hybrid work schedules. You may be required to report to your regular work location, with little notice, at the direction of your supervisor or the Company.
- Could be required to travel 2% across broad geographic region (including overnight and occasional weekend travel)
- The successful candidate will be required to clear a non-DOT drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
