Position Description The Operations Supervisor provides direct supervision to assigned employees and performs as a site supervisor on nights and weekends. Coordinates daily tasks with Terminal Leadership and Nucor. Supports Terminal Manager in establishing and meeting goals and objectives for the terminal. Reviews and enforces policies and procedures, institutes and evaluates employee trainingMonitors and provides feedback about employee performance, attendance, punctuality and general compliance with requirementsAssists in providing adequate and competent staffing of the facility Reviews all reports to ensure proper equipment maintenance and work efficiencyParticipates in investigating incidents, accidents, "near-misses," etc.Coordinates with crews on the receiving, unloading, and loading of bargesAssist in coordinating the switching of all railcars Ensures that employees maintain a clean and safe work environment Coordinates barge and railcar schedules with customers Review and distribute barge nominations and schedule specific inventories for loading/unloading Review, edit, update and finalize all barge paperwork upon completion Organizes and executes site procurement Works with production crew as necessary to relieve employees or increase production Organizes and maintains technical data relating to facility operations and maintenanceOther duties as assigned Position job title and level will be assigned depending on the qualifications, skill sets and experience of the successful candidate.
Position Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GEDExperience / Specific Knowledge:Should have basic knowledge of heavy equipment and conveyor systems operations Basic knowledge of rail unloading requiredShould have basic mechanical knowledge and skills and knowledge of 3 phase electrical control, distribution and motorsMust be able to demonstrate knowledge of bulk material storage and transportation. This includes rail and water movements of bulk material productsCertification, licenses, and registrations: Must pass and complete safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities, and as required by Kinder MorganA satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and a current, valid State driver's license are required.Competencies, skills, and abilities: Must be able to work with a team, take direction, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, follow work rules and work cooperatively with other peopleMust have the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneouslySuccessful completion of background check and post offer and random drug screensWork demands:Regular work attendance is required Must be willing to work overtime hours during the week and/or weekends as dictated by operations Must be able to work swing shift 4 days on 4 days off 12-hour shift Rotating Days and Nights Supervisory responsibility:Must be able to demonstrate the ability to supervise others, lead by example, and manage projects The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
