The Operations Supervisor is the essential management leader responsible for resourcing, organizing, scheduling and tracking all daily operations within a hazardous liquids storage facility. Primary focus is direct leadership of all employees and management of the facility’s operating environment. This includes basic operational stewardship of more than 15 customers’ products in over 25 above ground storage tanks, liaison with supported customers, incident response and investigation and ensuring equipment and infrastructure are operational and performing within regulatory and industry standards.

This position must be able to lead their workforce by example in all areas such as Safety, Kinder Morgan Core Values and Core Principles, Environmental Protection, Financial Responsibility, and Attitude. Demonstrate excellent decision making ability and be able to perform well with little guidance. Additionally responsible for training, developing and disciplining employees commensurate with the Company’s vision and progressive discipline plans. Perform other duties as assigned by operations managers. Ensure work environment remains clean and safe at all times. Maintain adherence to DOT and OSHA regulations as well as various other guidelines, standards, and company operating procedures. Mandatory drug screening and background check upon hire. Facility operates Monday through Friday and weekend, night, and holiday work is required per established schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
• On a daily basis, direct and utilize the workforce to complete specific tasks, primarily in the storage and handling of bulk liquid commodities and operation of all related equipment and facilities, to achieve zero injuries, zero employee preventable releases, and ensure efficient workforce utilization.
• Openly and actively support the Company’s management team initiatives and decisions with peers and subordinates.
• Estimate manning requirements and be able to pro-actively direct the workforce to ensure truck loading/unloading turnaround times is being managed in the most efficient manner.
• Be knowledgeable of, and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility operation. This includes ensuring that all facility employees are focused to enforce company policies regarding current PPE requirements, jewelry policy, etc. for all contractors and truck drivers that enter the facility.
• Direct and inspect the pumping of commodities into/out of terminal storage tanks to and from various modes of transportation. Assist in the implementation of a dual verification process to assure the integrity of all products handled and that the product is not allowed to contaminate other stored products or Company/third party assets. Responsibilities will include that dual verification is performed, at a minimum, at the stages of order generation, order loading/unloading and during final paperwork completion for a given order.
• Manage the daily operation of the facility’s heating system operation. Ensure that the boilers and electric heat tracing systems are operated per procedure and that the system is properly maintained.
• Communicate sufficiently and professionally with all terminal employees to ensure appropriate individuals have the necessary information to meet the goals of the facility.
• Prepare time worksheets for assigned hourly employees and approves overtime and special pay. Process plant operating orders and other required paperwork.
• Arrange for and follows through on the maintenance of equipment as required in conjunction with the Operations Superintendent to ensure timely repairs or PM of equipment.
• Take timely action in the event of injuries, releases, fires, property damage, etc. to minimize injury and negative impact to the environment.
• Take action to prevent incidents by recommending improvements to equipment, systems and procedures.
• Schedule, track and supervise required training for all terminal personnel. Specifically train direct reports in a professional manner to achieve a knowledgeable workforce. Actively participate in the administering of the training programs and field spot evaluations of employees.
• Lead initiatives for improvement and efficiency with regards to area of responsibility, make recommendations and serve as project lead for issues identified in areas outside of immediate responsibility as required.
• Communicate information clearly and concisely through wireless radios, telephone, email, handwritten messages, and in person.
• Serve as the Incident Commander for all incidents and accidents within the facility until properly relieved.
• Perform tasks as directed by management and established procedures.
• Perform job-related special assignments as required.
• Other duties as assigned.





EXPERIENCE:
• Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience in a liquid storage, pipeline or related industry. Experience can be substituted with demonstration of prior management experience, i.e., military, college major, etc.
• Proven ability to take initiative, train and lead subordinates to accomplish defined goals, and multitask in a fast paced environment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Previous lead or supervisory experience in a hazardous liquid storage facility.
• Liquid chemical inventory management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage operational budget.
• Experience in maintenance planning/scheduling downtime.
• Part inventory/order management.
• Previous experience or training for root cause analysis.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Must successfully obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) as required by the Transportation Security Administration at the start of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• The ability to work from decentralized instructions (written and verbal).
• Must be able to work quickly and make informed decisions independently and accurately under pressure.
• Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules, as well as, take on additional job responsibilities as needed.
• Basic/intermediate mechanical aptitude.
• Exemplary communications skills - both oral and written. Ability to read and understand English.
• Basic/Intermediate mathematical skills (Addition, Subtraction, Fractions, Multiplication, and Percentages) are required.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet, email and inventory systems).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Must be able to wear standard PPE (hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, Flame Retardant Clothing (FRC), protective gloves and protective toe boots).
• Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• May be required to climb steps and ladders and tanks up to 80' in height
• Ability to work over water on barges and platforms.
• Ability to hear communications from others and give input/directions orally.
• Ability to see to observe employees, operations, processes, equipment and facilities.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must meet physical requirements including, but not limited to, sitting and standing, walking, stooping and kneeling.
• Will be regularly required to sit and stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• May be subject to working outdoors in all types of weather.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Must be able to work various hours outside of scheduled shift to meet the demands of the business.
• Must be able to respond to emergencies when necessary.
• Must be able to split time between field and office environments during daily operations.
• Must be able to work in weather extremes, both heat and cold.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
• Supervising hourly, non-union liquid operators in the field.

OTHER:
• Successful completion of a drug screen and background check upon offer.
