Engineering Supervisor

Engineer with mechanical engineering experience/knowledge responsible for leading mechanical integrity engineers in meeting the natural gas business unit’s Process Safety Management/Risk Management  MI program safety, environmental, engineering, and operational requirements.  The successful candidate is expected to be knowledgeable of OSHA 1910.119, 40 CFR Part 68, and the API codes and standards used in the assessment and repair of the structural integrity of equipment used in natural gas process facilities. In addition, knowledge in predictive and preventive maintenance technologies, excellent troubleshooting skills for gas processing mechanical equipment, consulting in the development of maintenance and capital projects for improvements and expansions, developing/supporting equipment repairs and repair procedures, assisting with and or developing PSM Mechanical Integrity policies and procedures, and providing guidance and direction to other mechanical integrity engineers are job responsibilities. 

Experience / specific knowledge:

  • Previous engineering experience in an operating natural gas pipeline or process facility
  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical integrity principles and their application in a natural gas facility
  • Knowledge reading and interpreting P&IDs, pressure equipment data sheets, and other mechanical integrity related documents
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, flare systems, & high/low pressure systems
  • Knowledge of pipe specifications, ASME Boiler and Pressure vessel Code (Section VIII, Division 1), ASME process piping standard (B31.3)
  • Knowledge and understanding of PCMS and Maximo

 Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements
  • May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties
  • Must be able to obtain certification as an API 510, 570 and 653  inspector

  • Computer skills (competent in MS Office, various operating systems, and other company software)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills (including supervisory) and customer focus
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
  • Ability to direct a team of technical professionals to achieve goals established for the team.
  • Ability to speak and understand English.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screen prior to hire
  • Job level commensurate with experience 

Physical demands:

  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions; must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
  • Climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways 

Working conditions:

  • May work in low-lit areas
  • Depending upon the workload, travel will be required. Travel will vary depending upon business needs
  • Be available for shift work when applicable
Must carry a cell phone and respond to and address callouts and emergencies after regular business hours including after dark hours, which may require carrying a communication device.
