What your job will be like:

As a member of the Management Information Systems (MIS) group, you will work independently and with other team members to develop and deploy reporting solutions in support of Jefferson Lab operations. Using reporting tools such as Costpoint Enterprise Reporting (CER, based on Cognos), support the Financial, Procurement, and HR reporting requirements at the Laboratory. The selected applicant will work to help prepare reporting as part of the proposal submission and provide detailed follow-up reporting for auditors and Lab staff. An important focus of this position is to work with the CFO division to support reporting and follow-up needs as part of the Lab’s Incurred Cost Proposal processes.

In this role you will…

  • Work with MIS staff to develop requirements for system enhancements and process changes needed to support the Incurred Cost Proposal and related audits.
  • Provide comprehensive reporting solutions to the Head of Quality and Performance Analysis and provide data analytics to highlight useful information and support decision making.
  • Responsible for managing the CER reporting environment, working with MIS staff to plan and execute software upgrades.
  • Manage the Reporting Framework to establish and expand secured and efficient reporting across the Lab
  • Train Lab staff in the use of reporting tools as needed, including developing and maintaining documentation and learning aids.
  • Work with MIS and customers to identify and implement reporting software solutions when needed, to meet the requirements of the Laboratory and to promote efficiency and cost savings.
  • Use advanced Excel skills to manage and analyze data and prepare accurate, compelling reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications We Require:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant information technology field


  • Minimum of 3 years’ of experience in an information technology field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Extensive technical knowledge of and hands-on experience with enterprise reporting tools
  • Solid database/SQL knowledge with experience developing data structures to support report writing. 
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups)
  • Able to work with limited direction, apply sound judgment, exercise discretion, engage team members and customers and follow up as appropriate to meet or exceed expectations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibit a high level of personal ownership, confidentiality and flexibility

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Familiarity with CostPoint Enterprise Reporting
  • Familiarity with IBM Cognos Framework Manager
  • General application knowledge and the ability to identify system processes that affect back end database actions
