What your job will be like:

Are you looking for an opportunity to organize and lead a team of subject matter experts to identify, eliminate, and/or mitigate industrial related hazards? Jefferson Lab is seeking an Industrial Safety Program Lead - come and join our team! 

In this role you will:
  • Become a subject matter expert in areas such as electrical safety, work at heights, machine tools, hazardous energy control, material handling, industrial ergonomics, construction safety, etc
  • Manage a team of scientists, engineers and technicians to satisfy the responsibilities described in Jefferson Science Associates policy and procedures
  • Modify existing and develop new laboratory policy, procedures and training based on relevant governing standards and best practices
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, execution plans and project plans
  • Establish and manage staff expectations and performance appraisals
  • Monitor direct reports’ work activities/schedules and assure product quality, approve timesheets and other administrative documents
  • Continuously interact with laboratory management, staff and committees to gauge the performance of the Industrial Safety program and develop/implement corrective actions and improvement activities
  • Participate in investigations and assessments including the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions

Qualifications We Require:

  • Relevant BS degree
  • 10 years relevant experience 
  • Advanced degrees may count toward equivalent experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and application of advanced engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems
  • Ability to create innovative solutions while working on multiple highly complex major projects
  • Ability to initiate the planning, organization, performance, coordination and/or direction of engineering and scientific work  
  • Ability to perform technical studies and estimates while tracking and completing project activities on time and within budget
  • Ability to remain abreast of technical advancements related to industrial safety
  • Ability to coordinates efforts with management and workers throughout the laboratory to achieve desired results

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Relevant MS degree desirable
  • Professional Engineer, Certified Safety Professional certifications desirable
