Are you looking to join a Procurement Office where you can advance your knowledge of procurement best practices, while growing your career as a Procurement Officer? We are currently seeking a Procurement Officer for our Commercial Supplies Group within the Procurement Office. As a Procurement Officer on the Commercial Supplies Team, you will be primary responsible for commercial supply procurements actions under the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT) of $250,000.

Your Role Will:

  • Procure services, supplies, and equipment using simplified acquisition and/or purchasing procedures
  • Ensure procurement actions are competitive to the maximum extent possible.
  • Manage vendor inquiries and receive proposals
  • Evaluate quotations and award purchase orders up to limit of delegated authority
  • May have primary responsibility for one or more functional activities (e.g., laptops and related peripheral equipment, safety shoes and safety glasses, etc.)
  • Administer purchase orders, including modifications, for actions within the simplified acquisition threshold or actions above the simplified acquisition threshold under general supervision
  • Monitor cost and funding status, and ensure sufficient funds are available for all actions
  • Prepare and maintain related reports, records, and files as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications We Require:


  • Relevant Bachelor degree


  • 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to professionally and effectively interact and build relationships with team members and internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated skill in the areas of analytical problem solving, customer service, decision making, conflict resolution, negotiation, and written/verbal communications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience with Maximo and/or Costpoint software

• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions
• Ability to compose letters, outlines, memoranda, reports and other documents
• Ability to understand, remember, and communicate information and make decisions
• Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate, explore and implement alternative solutions
• Ability to prioritize, organize and complete complex and varied tasks

• Ability to traverse across various locations on the laboratory site and access work areas
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 pounds occasionally
• Ability to open files and cabinet drawers, stoop and bend
• Visual capabilities sufficient to use computer workstations, read documents, and see safety alarms
• Auditory capabilities to hear safety alarms
