This is a year-round position for full times students available to work part-time during fall and spring semesters and full-time during summer semesters.
SALARY RANGE:  $24,600 - $35,400 (SI II)  

The Computational Sciences and Technology (CST) Division Technical Student Intern works with the User Services/Helpdesk Group within the Computing and Networking Infrastructure (CNI) Department to provide end-user computing support.  This includes desktop support for Windows, Macintosh OS X, and various releases of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The position involves troubleshooting hardware, operating systems, network, and supported application issues. The Student Intern is expected to complete and document resolution of problem reports, and maintain on-line documentation.  The Student Intern may also work on projects for other groups within the CNI Department and the CST Division.

The ideal candidate will possess an excellent working knowledge of the Windows operating system (OS). Experience with Mac OS X and any Linux variant is preferred, as is a good working knowledge of local area network configuration. This candidate must make good use of written and verbal instructions, understand and follow established computing policies, and have excellent communication skills both in writing and in speech. A demonstrated experience in computer support is considered a plus in the evaluation of candidates.

Applicant must be enrolled in a local university as a full-time college student with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Enrollment in a computer-related major preferred. Proof of full-time status and copies of transcripts are required prior to interview (unofficial copies are acceptable).  Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.

In addition, the candidate must available to work a minimum of 18 hours per week, with the maximum being 20 hours per week during school sessions, and 40 hours per week between school sessions (spring break, summer break, and winter break).

Applicants for this position should be able to lift and carry (for short distances) standard desktop computer equipment and peripherals, generally under 40 pounds.
