SALARY RANGE:  $64,900 - $102,700 (SE I) 

Jefferson Lab’s Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) group is seeking an entry-level electrical engineering coordinator who is interested in resolving problems and developing solutions for accelerator systems both in the field and office.  The successful candidate will participate in maintaining equipment and infrastructure, perform tests on existing equipment to characterize performance, support the installation process of new and advanced technologies, interpret requirements and assist in the development of new systems.They will collaborate with physicists, engineers, computer scientists, technicians, and accelerator operators to resolve operational issues and concerns. Under minimal supervision, the incumbent will learn and perform design, repair, and testing, following safety guidelines,for tasks such as electronic circuit design & troubleshooting, firmware programming & verification, RF measurements, data collection & analysis, and system troubleshooting. 



  • Education and Experience:  Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology 

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact constructively with technical staff in a dynamic R&D environment are required 

  • Experience with the following software packages is desired but not required; Intel (Altera) Quartus, VHDL or other firmware languages, Altium Designer, MATLAB, Simulink, and AutoCAD 

  • Occasional on-call support of I&C systems installed in the particle accelerator(s) during scheduled operational periods is required.  

  • Experience with the following test equipment is desired; oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal source analyzer, and logic analyzer



• Ability to perform complex and/or varied tasks
• Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore and implement alternative solutions
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and systems and develop models
• Capable of analytic and deductive reasoning
Ability to work independently and proactively to maintain electronic systems



• Ability to traverse across various locations on the laboratory site and access work areas
• Ability to stoop, bend over and climb ladders
• Ability to carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to access and work in confined spaces
• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods
• Visual capabilities to use computer workstations, read drawings and documents, make field observations, and see safety alarms
• Auditory capabilities to hear safety alarms
Physically able to access and work in accelerator underground enclosures and obtain Radiation and ODH worker quealifications
