SALARY RANGE: $42,200 - $57,400 (T/D I) 
 
The SRF Cavity Assembly Technician serves in the Cavity Processing Group and will be responsible for all cavity assembly and test preparation support.  This will include but not be limited to preparation of components for assembly, cavity assembly in a clean room environment, and preparation for testing.  Individual will work from verbal, written and graphic instructions with little supervision at moderate mechanical and UHV vacuum levels.  Tasks will require the use of various hand tools, precision measurement tools, and custom fixtures.




Education, Certification and Experience:


AS degree or High School Graduate with 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combinaton of education and experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Perform mechanical assembly of UHV components in accordance with written procedures

Ability to understand clean room practices and carry out routine process operations in an ISO 5 Clean room environment.

A mathematics competency with scientific notation, logarithms, and basic algebra.

Ability to work with ultra-high vacuum systems. This will include leak testing of components and cavity pairs utilizing RGA or other UHV leak detecting equipment.

Ability to develop a basic understanding of cryogenic systems.

Use of Windows PCs and MS Office for accurate completion of electronic documentation.

Facilities support as required for maintaining the cavity production facilities and keeping facility properly stocked for daily activities.

Maintain housekeeping in the cavity production facilities to facilitate efficient productivity and promote a safe work environment.

Ability to work in a structured environment where all activities follow specific procedures and adherence is documented. 

Ability to work off-hours, weekends and overtime as required by management

  • Ability to carry up to 40 lbs and lift 15 lbs above head frequently
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Manual capability to pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers; seize, grasp, hold, turn, use hand tools and other equipment
  • Visual capabilities sufficient to use computer workstations, read drawings and other documents and see safety alarms
  •  Auditory capabilities to hear safety alarms
  • Must be able to work in an ISO-4 compatible clean room suit for extended periods of time
  • Must meet qualifications to work in radiation and chemical areas 
  • Ability and knowledge to operate an overhead crane is beneficial
