2 YEAR TERM POSITION
POSITION POSTED: OCTOBER 26, 2021 SALARY RANGE: $58,300 - $87,500 (PD) The Theory Center at Jefferson Lab (JLab) expects to have three theory postdoc positions to be available in the fall of 2022, and invites applications for these positions. These positions are normally for two years, but outstanding performance in research may allow an extension to a third year.
The Theory Center at JLab has a very active research program in QCD and its applications in hadronic and nuclear physics, including while not limited to,
Studies of strong coupling QCD on the lattice computing the spectrum, decays, transition form factors and multidimensional structure of hadrons; Applications of effective field theories to nuclear and hadronic properties; Calculations of nuclear properties and their electroweak interactions; Applications of scattering theory methods to the phenomenology of multi-hadron final states relevant for the spectroscopy program at JLab and worldwide; Applications of QCD factorization to observables sensitive to single and multiple dimensional hadron structures and their extraction from data using QCD global analyses; Extensions of all such studies for a future Electron-Ion Collider
There are established networking opportunities to interact and collaborate with researchers worldwide to bring global experience and expertise to bear on extracting definitive physics results from the experimental program at JLab and worldwide. More about JLab and its Theory Center can be found at
https://www.jlab.org/. A Ph.D. in theoretical nuclear or high energy physics is required, and a strong publication record in any of above research areas is preferred.
* A PhD in an appropriate area of theoretical physics is a prerequisite, together with a record of publications in leading journals and talks at workshops and conferences.
* Recognized research program in theoretical nuclear and/or hadron physics that overlaps with the JLab scientific program.
Applicants must upload (1) your cv, (2) research interest and (3) publication list, and three letters of recommendations through the Academic Jobs Online links provided below. The applicant must also apply to JLab’s online application tracking system for Postdoctoral Research Positions at https://www.jlab.org/job-openings. The deadline for applications is November 28, 2021.
