SALARY RANGE: $55,500 - $75,500 (TD II) 
   
Working from verbal, written, and graphic instructions, primary duties will be to provide maintenance support on a variety of systems used in the Jefferson Lab Experimental Hall B. Systems include the following disciplines: Controls, Diagnostics, machining, electronics, mechanical assembly, and Vacuum.

Primary area of responsibility will be to assist senior members of the technical staff in the design, fabrication, implementation, and documentation of all maintained systems. Assigned responsibility for specific Hall B systems, including the vacuum, and target systems. This position requires periods of on call support, shift work, and overtime.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Generate work control documents (HBlist) for all aspects of Hall B work
  • Repair, upgrade, maintenance of CLAS12.  Assist in the safe and accurate moving of the Forward Carriage and target systems. Assist in the removal and replacement of detectors systems
  • Support Engineering and Design Staff in Hall B.
  • Completes design drafter tasks of moderate complexity.
  • Frequently assigned multiple tasks and accomplishes them simultaneously.
  • Plans their own work for short term and intermediate assignments and can coordinate work with others in the group.
  • Maintain Material Handling Equipment training for Crane, Forklift, and Man lift as applicable. This qualification shall include, at a minimum, equipment proficiency in the type of equipment to be used and training in the area(s) of operation. All Crane, Forklift, and Man lift duties shall be performed in accordance with JLab policies, the EH&S manual and industry standards.
  • Fabricate and assemble vacuum and mechanical components used in Hall B
  • Plan and execute short term assignments for self and others under his or her leadEngineering on Call for Cryogenic, Vacuum, Hall B Gas system.
  • Engineering on Call for Cryogenic, Vacuum, Hall B Gas system.
  • Responsible for the organization and quality of their own work.
  • Work for reasonable periods of time with various computer applications.

 



Education, Certifications, and Experience:

AS degree plus 3 years relevant experience or High School Graduate with 6 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  1. Able to identify schedule conflicts within the group and provide solutions.
  2. Must be able to operate forklifts, cranes, and aerial work platforms at a journeyman’s competency level and also perform the duties of a rigger to a journeyman’s competency level
  3. Demonstrates intermediate skills, knowledge and ability in one technology trade or specialty.
  4. Knowledge of theory, design, and techniques used at component level.
  5. Knowledge of cryogenics and Vacuum is highly desirable.
  6. Basic skills, knowledge and ability in other technologies.
  7. Demonstrates sound judgment in completing assignments.

• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs frequently and 25 lbs occasionally
