We are currently seeking a student intern for the JLAB Electrical Engineering Systems Department. The focus of this department is to provide technical services to accelerator operations and other lab initiatives. Student intern will be responsible for the support of engineering staff in the design, maintenance and repair of accelerator electrical systems. Duties will include but not limited to PCB testing and repair, soldering, chassis wiring and field cable fabrication and installation. The intern will be expected to use basic hand tools and display mechanical aptitude under supervision.
Applicant must be enrolled as a fulltime student in a four year undergraduate technical program, electrical engineering preferred, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The student intern will work under general supervision of EES personal to build and test electrical systems for the accelerator. Intern will work within teams on projects to maintain or improve equipment in the accelerator and other supported systems. Intern will be trained to Jefferson Lab safety requirements and will be expected to follow specific guidelines for personnel and environmental safety. Intern will gain insight on general engineering and technical principles to complement their formal education. Coursework in basic electronics and circuit theory desired. Proof of fulltime student status and copies of transcripts are required (unofficial copies are acceptable, if followed by official transcripts within 2 weeks).
