SALARY RANGE:  $105,200 - $166,200 (SE III)  
   
Under rminimum supervision, the Industrial Safety Professional will serve as a key member of the Environment Safety and Health Department tasked to implement, monitor and improve the performance of the safety programs which the department provides to the line organization.  These areas will include electrical safety, fall protection, ladders/scaffolding, pressure systems safety and other general and industrial workplace hazards. The incumbent will also develop policies, procedures and training to eliminate and mitgate those hazards: and assure JSA compliance with all appropriate contractual and regulatory requirements,and execute lab-wide policy, procedures and initiatives and provide direct support to line organizations during work planning and execution. 
 
The incumbent will also mentor staff as assigned and work productively with staff from across all organizations and levels as well as Department of Energy staff.



Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Safety Engineering or closely related field plus 10 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated success evaluating and mitigating industrial hazard risk and assuring regulatory compliance
  • Documented education, training or experience in the following disciplines: pressure/vacuum systems, industrial gases, portable and fixed machine tools, work at heights, ladders and scaffolding, material handling
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable OSHA standards
  • Documented success managing multiple, complex projects leading to risk reduction, regulatory compliance and implementation of best practices
  • Professional Engineer and/or Certified Safety Professional preferred

Not Required But Desireable
  • Knowldge of safety program management related to 10 CFR 851
  • Other Federal safety program implementation
  • Education/training/experience with the implementation of the Prevention Through Design concept; or similar

• Ability to traverse across various locations on the laboratory site and access work areas
• Ability to stoop, bend over and climb ladders
• Ability to carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to access and work in confined spaces
• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods
• Visual capabilities to use computer workstations, read drawings and documents, make field observations, and see safety alarms
• Auditory capabilities to hear safety alarms
