We are currently seeking a SRF Cryomodule Assembly Technician ..
A Cryomodule Assembly Technician uses various hand tools and equipment to assemble Cryomodules for the SRF Operations Group of the Accelerator Division. This will include the fabrication of Cryomodule vacuum components, precise mechanical assembly of Cryomodules and their sub-systems, and accurate documentation of the work performed. This position also consists of material handling operations using forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes. Individual will work from verbal, written, and graphic instructions with moderate supervision from lead personnel in a team environment setting.
Essential Job Functions: Perform mechanical assembly of Cryomodules components in accordance with written procedures and verbal direction. Apply and adhere to proper UHV practices as applied to Cryomodule assemblies. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes to transport fragile equipment. Familiarity with machine operation such as mills and lathes Use computers for accurate completion of electronic documentation. Provide facilities support as required for maintaining the Cryomodule production capabilities. Maintain housekeeping in the Cryomodule production facilities to enable efficient productivity and promote a safe work environment. Must be available to work shifts and overtime as necessary.
AS degree in related fields or High School Graduate with 3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Experienced in the use of hand tools for performing mechanical assemblies is required Experience working in a structured environment applying work control documents is highly desired Experience with the use of Windows-based computers and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of UHV systems and associated practices Ability to use various hand tools for mechanical assemblies Ability to perform mechanical assemblies in an production style atmosphere Ability to use leak detection equipment and interpret results for leak checking in vacuum Ability to operate an overhead bridge crane and other material handling equipment Ability to obtain and keep current all safety training relative to work activities. Ability to interpret and apply work control documents Able to work in collaboration with others to solve complex problems. Able to take direction and carry out assignments independently and in cooperation with peers and supervisors Able to understand and carry out instructions, ask questions, and report to supervisor clearly on problems, progress and status Able to communicate effectively the results and challenges of on-going projects to fellow staff and management in both oral and written form
