Position Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

As a Technical SEO Analyst at The Home Depot, you will provide the key building blocks for the entire organic search marketing team. The Search Analyst will provide technical recommendations, reporting, and insights to enable the HomeDepot.com teams to identify optimization opportunities and make data-driven decisions that drive traffic and conversion. This role will also support team members by providing research that aligns with the strategy driven by Managers and various stakeholders. It will be critical to discover underperforming areas and to identify opportunities that improve overall program performance for the areas you oversee. This may include working collaboratively across multiple Marketing, Creative, Product Management and IT teams, which will require critical planning and execution in a fast-paced environment. This individual must possess a strong understanding of the Earned Media and SEO landscape for maximizing the organic discoverability and bot crawl efficiency.

As a Search Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: 

  • Perform keyword and technical SEO research, continuous site auditing, and recommend on-page optimization based on business objectives for both existing functionality and new opportunities
  • Provide SEO best practices in alignment with current technical principals and homedepot.com systems 
  • Research and develop tactical strategies for content and tag development that are continuously enhanced
  • Research, develop and help drive large-scale solutions to broaden organic performance
  • Own daily monitoring of assigned SEO performance, align to weekly/monthly roadmaps and delivery of ad-hoc reporting
  • Evangelizing SEO across multiple departments, business groups and corporate levels

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 35% - Researches and analyzes trends/performance data to identify opportunities for program improvements and enhancements. Manages reporting platform and performs regular and ad hoc data pulls as groundwork for analysis. Provides key insights on business performance. 
  • 25% - Monitors campaign performance and executes daily operations 
  • 20% - Manages technical projects via Excel 
  • 20% - Writes and edits on-page and off-page content in bulk

NATURE AND SCOPE
The position reports to a Sr. Manager or Manager of Earned Media
No direct responsibility for supervising others.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel: 
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 
2 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:

• Intermediate capabilities with Microsoft Excel required 
• Must have strong editorial skills: a keen eye for grammar, spelling, syntax, and a basic knowledge of AP Style 
• A steadfast passion for SEO and internet marketing

Preferred Qualifications:

• In depth knowledge of current and developing SEO trends and best practices 
• A basic understanding of HTML/CSS 
• Basic understanding of content marketing: target audiences, keywords, linking, anchor text, success measurement & reporting 
• E-commerce knowledge and experience a plus 
• Prior analytics and data analysis exposure is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
• Exemplary written and oral communication skills 
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with others 
• Experience using SEO and business-related tools including: Omniture/Adobe SiteCatalyst, Google/Bing Webmaster tools, Google Adwords, SEOmoz, DeepCrawl, BrightEdge, etc.
• Prior analytics and data analysis exposure is a plus 
• Multi-channel marketing and/or ecommerce experience is a plus
