The Sr. PR Specialist, Product Innovation PR is a key member of the Home Depot Merchandising Public Relations Team and is responsible for external communications efforts for The Home Depot and its products. This position executes proactive and reactive opportunities with key external stakeholders, primarily media and industry influencers, to convey a narrative about the organization concentrated on their product innovation including tactical execution and measurement of PR efforts.
Working with The Home Depot’s Marketing and Merchandising Teams, the candidate must be able to collaborate cross-functionally to manage consumer and trade communications programs. He/She must be an excellent project manager, possess strong media relations skills, as well as possess superior written and verbal communication skills.MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Involves the following: actively support national and local merchandising/marketing through proactive media relations. This includes placement of stories to local print and broadcast media, maintaining relationships with local media outlets, and development of creative

Monitor media coverage in assigned categories and develop reports.
Manage and counsel local store level spokesperson network.
Build relationships with designated leadership and store associates.
Ability to serve as a The Home Depot spokesperson.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Bachelor’s degree Communications or Public Relations preferred, MBA a plus.
- 4-6 years combined corporate and agency experience with a CPG. Retail PR preferred.
- Experience pitching and placing national and local media stories
- Relationship management with media, external agencies, and business partners
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills
- Promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
- Ability to plan and manage schedules for multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment

Planning/Organizing: Ability to set priorities, plan and coordinate work activities, and obtain and manage resources so that objectives are accomplished on time.
