Position: Cyber Claims Analyst

Reporting to: Sr. Vice President of Claims (Media & Technology)

Location: Atlanta or San Francisco

About the US Claims team:

The US Claims team at Hiscox is a growing group of professionals with experience across private practice and in house roles, working together to provide the ultimate product we offer to the market. Claims counsel and analysts are empowered to manage their claims directly with high levels of authority to provide fair and fast resolution of claims for our insured and broker partners. With strong growth across the US business, the Claims team is focused on delivering profitability while reinforcing Hiscox’s strong brand built on a long history of outstanding claims handling.


Role, Team & Responsibilities:


 Claims Analysts are responsible for analyzing policy coverage, drafting coverage letters, managing, monitoring and resolving first party losses and general liability claims asserted against our insureds under our Technology, Media, Entertainment and Cyber policies. Superior claims service is central to our corporate culture and brand. Claims Analyst are an integral part of our in-house claims servicing team. This is not a “back office” role. Claims Analyst interact directly and daily with our clients and business partners, so a passion for superior customer service and professionalism are key characteristics of the role. 

 Claims analysts are responsible for triaging claim submissions, obtaining pertinent documents in conjunction with claim submissions, resolving basic claims, and acting as the first point of contact for claim inquiries and questions.  Strong customer service skills are essential to this role as there will be significant daily interactions with clients and business partners.  Role also requires working directly with Claims Operations, Claims Analysts, and Claims Counsel to ensure superior claim service is provided to customers.


Key Responsibilities:

Performing all core aspects of professional and general liability claims management, including but not limited to:

  • Act as a first point of contact on various claims call and inquiries

  • Draft complex coverage letters includingrequests for additional information, coverage letters, reservations of rights and denial letters to our clients and brokers across a variety of business classes.

  • Actively monitor litigation and managing the deployment of local defense counsel

  • Review and analyze claim documentation and legal filings

  • Correspond with clients and external counsel to obtain timely status updates

  • Identify emerging liability exposures

  • Maintain electronic claim files

  • Identify and maximize claim settlement opportunities

  • Liaise directly on daily basis with outside attorneys, insureds and brokers

  • Manage opening instructions for the Media line of business

  • Manage and handle excess and bordereaux claims for Media, Cyber and Technology lines

  • Manage payment for our defense counsel and other outside experts for the above lines.

  • Issue substantive coverage correspondence to our clients and brokers

Person Specification:



  • 4 years of work experience as a liability claims analyst or adjuster, or a paralegal at a law firm with exposure to liability claims

  • An active insurance adjuster’s license issued by the State of Georgia strongly preferred

  • Experience with Cyber or Privacy Breach insurance is ideal

  • Highly professional with a passion for great customer service, including a strong ability to establish a positive rapport with our clients, brokers and business partners

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Team-oriented, with ability to excel in a collegial environment
