Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of a best in class state filing team at Hiscox

Position: State Filings Analyst

Reporting to: State Filings Manager

Location: Atlanta or White Plains NY

The role

As a State Filings Analyst at Hiscox you get to see how well a new or revised product is received by the US Insurance Market. This is a new additional headcount for us to help achieve our initiatives for 2018 and beyond.  We have a new policy administration system coming down the pike and the first products to go into the new policy issuance system will be revisions to existing products that the team will have to file before we can implement. We are a small and close knit team who support each other every day. You’ll work with Underwriting, Pricing and Underwriting Counsel to file and bring new products to market faster and keep existing products competitive in this ever changing insurance environment. You’ll work in SERFF on a daily basis creating templates, submitting filings, answering objections letters, etc., but also use your attention to detail to update internal databases with information from these filings. 

Here’s what you’ll primarily be doing:
  • Review state filing packages from a regulatory perspective.
  • Submit new and revised filings to state insurance departments.
  • Draft state amendatory endorsements and/or state specific endorsements to comply with state  regulations/laws.
  • Interface with business unit staff, legal and actuarial departments in response to insurance department inquiries. 
  • Enter data from the filings into internal document repositories/tracking tools.

Person Specification:

Please provide a cover letter and resume which clearly communicates that you are the person to take on this challenge at Hiscox USA. Here are some of the requirements we would ideally like to see:
  • At least one (1) year of state filings experience including reviewing state filings packages (forms, rate and rules) and experience with SERFF; regulatory experience in commercial (ISO) lines and NILS experience is preferred
  • BA/BS degree is preferred

  • Ability to work/function in a deadline driven environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; able to employ automation to increase efficiencies.
  • Strong Organizational Skills and Detail Oriented

About the Product Innovation and Development Team
The PI&D team is part of Underwriting Management and works with all underwriters in all lines of business to create best in class products and services for our different customer segments. It is an essential function of Hiscox USA’s business, simultaneously helping to develop our underwriting expertise and support the sales engine, all while keeping our finger on the pulse of the latest relevant legal and insurance developments to ensure the products and services we offer remain innovative.
