Job details:

This position consists simply of calling homeowners to ask them about home service companies they’ve used recently (for example: roofers, painters, plumbers, etc.). As a new researcher, you would start by going through a fair amount of training before starting to use the phones—and we wouldn’t put you on the phone until you felt comfortable.

This is not a sales or telemarketing position. Our researchers do not sell anything or push people to talk if it’s obvious that they don’t want to stay on the phone, and in many cases, they are actually met with people eager to share their experiences and who are grateful for the call. The conversations our researchers have are professional but informal, although not without personality.  

The dress code is casual, the coffee is free, and the staff is incredibly friendly and supportive and will do what it takes to help you do your best. We believe that comfort is key, essential to your gathering the most information and doing your best. Telecommuting options may be available.

Pay details:

The base pay is $10 an hour with bonus potential.


We are looking for individuals who want to work Monday through Friday in four-hour shifts that take place between 1 pm and 9 pm.

 (Training would take place during a dedicated week of evening shifts.)

Who we’re looking for:

An ideal candidate would have experience (or at least an interest) in theater, voice work, broadcasting or radio. If you either excel at public speaking or have ambition to be the next Anderson Cooper, then this is for you. We are looking for people who are comfortable holding conversations, can think on their feet, and preferably have experience with following a script in some form.  Our goal is for you to have friendly, engaging conversations so we can find out who the very best companies are.  And though our researchers are hard-working, our office definitely has a laid-back vibe.

We should note that every once in a while you may speak with someone who isn’t exactly excited to have been called out of the blue by a stranger.  It’s the nature of the job, but a pleasant personality always seems to get people to really open up and share their experiences.  We are looking for people who are able to shrug off the occasional rejection and focus the majority of their energy on the more frequent positive conversations and intriguing stories.  

Basic qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age

What we would consider a huge bonus:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (mainly for data entry purposes)
  • 1 year experience doing telephone work
  • Background in customer service, sales, or performing arts


Physical Requirements: Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Prolonged sitting up to 75% of the time
  • Occasional walking 10% of the time
  • Work requires moderate physical effort and use of motor skills requiring manual dexterity
  • Require physical effort associated with using the personal computer to enter information
  • Must be able to read and hear verbal instructions in English
