The Department of Behavioral Health at Denver Health Medical Center is recruiting
for a full-time Addiction Psychiatrist to join our team in our Outpatient Clinic. The Behavioral
Health department at Denver Health is part of a Level I 525-licensed hospital with a mission
of providing access to quality health care for all citizens of Denver regardless of ability to pay.
 As Colorado’s primary safety net institution, DH has provided billions of dollars in uncompensated


The position will include trauma-informed addictions treatment, working with methadone, suboxone
and substance use disorders teams, and a team based multi- disciplinary approach to recovery.  This
physician will work with the consultation- liaison team to diagnose and initiate substance abuse
care for inpatients on the medical, surgical and OB/GYN units of the hospital. Leadership is also
amenable to tailoring the work towards the applicant’s interest and experience.


Applicants must be eligible for a Colorado medical license and be BE/BC in general adult
psychiatry. Subspecialty training is a plus.

Education 1. Graduation from an Accredited Medical School and completed Accredited Residency Programs and fellowships for specialist, equivalent. 2. Equivalent training for those Physicians who are not U.S. residency trained 3. The MSEC can grant privileges on a one-on-one review. Experience Experience requirements vary depending on specialty and position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques. 2. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment. 3. Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care. 4. Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications. 5. Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills. 6. Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems. 7. Performs in a tactful and professional manner. 8. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. 9. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Computers and Technology 1. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2. EPIC Certificates, Licenses and Registration 1. Medical license to practice in State of Colorado. 2. Physician Board certification in professional medical discipline. 3. Appropriate certifications designated by department i.e. BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, Etc.
