Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC) is seeking an adult psychiatrist for the Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. DHMC is an academically affiliated safety net hospital with a level 1 trauma center in Denver, Colorado. The Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is a expanding to a 57 bed locked unit serving the Denver Metro area and surrounding community. Successful applicants with have an academic appointment through the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Responsibilities include direct patient care of a diverse group of patients, working with multidisciplinary teams, and participation in monthly department meetings and conferences. Opportunities to supervise medical students, psychiatric residents, and engage in scholarly work are available but not required. A background and experience with electroconvulsive therapy is a plus.

Education 1. Graduation from an Accredited Medical School and completed Accredited Residency Programs and fellowships for specialist, equivalent. 2. Equivalent training for those Physicians who are not U.S. residency trained 3. The MSEC can grant privileges on a one-on-one review. Experience Experience requirements vary depending on specialty and position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques. 2. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment. 3. Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care. 4. Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications. 5. Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills. 6. Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems. 7. Performs in a tactful and professional manner. 8. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. 9. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Computers and Technology 1. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2. EPIC Certificates, Licenses and Registration 1. Medical license to practice in State of Colorado. 2. Physician Board certification in professional medical discipline. 3. Appropriate certifications designated by department i.e. BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, Etc.
