Denver Health and Hospital Authority is recruiting for a full-time Advance Care Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for the Denver Health Southwest Urgent Care Clinic located ten minutes from Downtown Denver, CO. The successful candidate will be required to have a minimum of one year of experience as a NP or PA in a emergency room or urgent care setting. Responsibilities will include diagnosis and treatment of an array of pediatric and adult illness and injuries, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing based upon evidenced based medicine and clinical practice guidelines, and procedures may include suturing, x-ray, EKGs, etc.
Schedule: Southwest Urgent Care is open Monday – Friday 9am-8pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am-4pm. The provider will work three 12 hour shifts per week and one weekend out of every four weekends (two 8 hour shifts). The successful applicant will be joining a diverse team of 6 providers in the urgent care setting and a larger primary care team in the Southwest Health Center of 20+ providers.
Denver Health is a fully integrated network of 9 community health centers, 17 school-based clinics, and a Level I 525-licensed bed hospital with a mission of providing access to quality preventive, acute, and chronic health care for all citizens of Denver, regardless of ability to pay. Denver Health is affiliated with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and serves as a training site for medical residents and fellows. The successful applicant will also have a faculty appointment at the University of Colorado at a rank commiserate with previous experience.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing and successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program. Masters preferred.
Experience: One year related clinical experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of medical principals, procedures and community resources. Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams and formulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients. Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis. Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications. Skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies. Skill in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuring patients and motivating patients to accept treatments. Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment. Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations. Ability to prepare accurate reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
Certificate/License/Registration: Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification/CPR. Certification by a national certifying body approved by the Colorado Board of Nursing, Current registration with the Colorado Board of Nursing’s Advanced Practice Registry. Provisional or Full Prescriptive Authority, if eligible. Advance Practice Nurses without Provisional Prescriptive Authority must be actively working towards obtaining Provisional Prescriptive Authority within five years from date of hire. Advance Practice Nurses with Provisional Prescriptive Authority must be actively working towards Full Prescriptive Authority within five years after provisional authority is granted. Depending on the needs of the assigned area incumbents in this job title may be required to obtain additional certifications or training in one or more specialty areas. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
