Position Summary:
Conducts or participates in special procedures while working directly with the radiologist to obtain specific results to be used by physicians for diagnostic purposes and interventional treatment.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or Certificate in Radiologic Technology required and
Radiography (R)(ARRT) - w/ 1 year
IEMA Radiography License Illinois
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1-3 years of experience in/with problem-solving skills, the ability to set priorities, organize work and have excellent interpersonal skills. AndFlexibility and the ability to work well with others are required. And Stand-by call also required.

Essential Functions:
- Clinical Excellence* Performs special procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages. Performs sure guidance and needle guidance using CT and/or Fluoroscopy under the direct supervision of the Radiologist.* Exhibits competency in performing and filming angiographic and CT radiographic procedures.* Deviates from routines when the patient's condition requires it or at the request of the radiologist.* Knowledgeable of catheters, guidewires, and sterile trays and prepares these items as necessary.* Obtains and documents accurate pre and post procedure information as applicable.* Follow JCAHO patient safety goals.* Maintains quality care throughout the procedure.* Practices radiation protection through shielding whenever possible.* Demonstrates a practical problem solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.* Demonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.* Performs patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital lab procedures and policies
- Key Accountability* Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all areas of special procedures* Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software* Performs reasonable troubleshooting.* Checks and observes equipment for general safety and appropriate operation.* Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels.* Maintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room.
- Key Accountability* Performs support functions of the Medical Imaging Department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met. Assumes personal responsibility to train fellow technologist/students * Promptly processes films and paper work to ensure timely turn around * Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, transporting patients to and from the department as required.* Maintains and ensures a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs* Shares knowledge, guides, and encourages fellow technologist/students with proper department protocol and procedures.* Displays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment.
