    Job Description

Arm® is seeking highly motivated and creative undergraduates to join our Galway-based design and development teams as Interns to gain experience of working on our state-of-the-art Systems on Chip (SoC) design tools. Many of the world’s leading semiconductor design companies use the tools developed by this team to improve design efficiency and help deliver high-quality ARM-based SoC designs.

    About the role

Arm is entering a new growth phase to develop innovative technologies and products for existing and new markets. To do this we need talented and motivated people to join our global team. At Arm you will work with the world’s best companies as they build sector-leading products from our designs. You’ll share ideas with and learn new skills from the best engineers in the world. We work in small teams, so your contribution will make a difference.

    What’s in it for you?

As an intern at Arm, you will work on real projects that have real impact, while also building on key skills for your future studies and employment. We believe in developing talent for the future, and therefore aim to offer many of our interns a graduate position once they have finished their studies.

Working on interesting new projects is exciting but we also know how important it is to receive support. That’s why you will have a regular 1 to 1 meeting with your line manager who will be able to offer ongoing support, feedback and development opportunities. You will be given a certain amount of flexibility and freedom in how you decide to complete your project tasks.

As well as being offered a competitive salary, there are also opportunities to get involved in some of the many social events that are organised within Arm.

    Job Requirements

What will I be accountable for?

You will be fully integrated into our Agile Scrum team and gradually brought up to speed with the aims, objectives and tasks of the team.

You will accept tasks that evolve in complexity as your experience grows, alongside your team colleagues, to ensure the successful implementation, test and release of required product features. These tasks will typically include:

    • developing, in Java, to implement or fix product features
    • writing Junit tests for those Java-based features
    • raising/fixing/tracking/closing defects on products
    • reporting on the usability and performance of the tools and providing feedback to the development team on product quality
    • automating test scripts in the Python or Ant test framework
    • automating test scripts in the Eclipse based GUI tools Rational Functional Tester or RCPTT
    • raising, tracking, validating and closing defects on products
