    Job Description

    We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.

    Arm's Verification engineers continuously push the boundaries of what is possible with simulation, formal and emulation tools to produce industry-leading CPU IP. If working at the cutting edge of technology in an extraordinary team sounds like an exciting challenge then a role in our team is for you!

    The CPU team in Cambridge has produced some of the company’s most successful products with processors craft developed by our group being shipped in billions of designs in use today, from smartphones and tablets to AI applications, IOT and automotive systems. This team has been responsible for developing processors from high-end A-class parts such as the Cortex-A53, one of the first 64 bit processors developed by Arm, and the recently-announced DynamIQ technology (providing safe, fast and efficient complex data processing for AI) to R-class real-time processors such as Cortex-R52, Arm’s most advanced processor for safety, and microcontrollers in the M-class series such as the Cortex-M0+ and Cortex-M33.
    The position will be based at Arm's headquarters in Cambridge, UK.

    We are looking for engineers with experience of hardware modelling to contribute to our CPU verification team. Models developed by other groups within arm are extended for use within our verification environments, forming a key part of the overall strategy. This role will involve collaborating with the Development Solutions Group (DSG) to extend their model to fulfil the needs of the CPU group, while maintaining the integrity of the model codebase. We need our team to build a deep knowledge as one of the first implementers of new developments in the Arm architecture, as well as understanding the microarchitectural implementation details. Arm's results-oriented goals require us to plan and coordinate tasks to meet high quality goals at the planned time; looking forward, we also want people to be part of improvement strategies across our group and the wider Arm verification community.

    Job Requirements

    The skills and experience that we are looking for are:

    Essential
    • Modelling of sophisticated hardware modules
    • Proven experience of C++
    • Ability to quickly understand and apply specification detail
    • Understanding of the fundamentals of computer architecture, with an emphasis on pipelining, exception handling, memory systems
    • In-depth code review of others’ work

    Desirable
    • Practical experience of working on microprocessor designs
    • In-depth understanding of memory protection, memory translation, vector processing in CPUs, exception and interrupt handling.
    • An appreciation of hardware verification techniques
    • Knowledge of assembly language (preferably Arm), and/or C/C++
    Arm is committed to global talent acquisition, offering an attractive relocation package.
