    Job Description

    The Project Management Office (PMO) sits across the Arm business to support successful delivery of projects. We are responsible for evolving a strong governance framework, robust project delivery process, training and development to evolve our people, the tools to enable successful projects and the data and reporting to understand delivery status and to support decision-making.

    You will lead a team of forward-thinking people providing consultancy, mentoring, training, good practice and support in all things Project, Agile and Program management. You will be taking a key role in leading our Governance and Assurance strategy, working closely with our customers to maintain our delivery standards.

    You’ll also be working to ensure that we have the right capabilities in place within the PMO to support the business as it evolves. Being close to our customers, understanding their challenges and developing different services as appropriate to support.

    We are based in Cambridge, UK and this is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and driven team.

    What will I be accountable for?

    Governance and Assurance

    Being a champion for delivery standards and policies, working with the community to maintain their relevance

    Working with business intelligence to determine trends that help the business to be more effective and spot at risk delivery.

    Leading the Delivery Lifecycle Management process that defines the framework that Arm undertakes the management and control of projects and programs.

    Customer Engagement

    A proactive dialogue with internal customers to; understand, agree and prioritise their operational needs; develop and manage expectations on delivery schedule; engage appropriately to sensitively deliver agreed requirements; ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

    Support & Guidance

    Support the team to provide training, mentoring and mentorship to help address specific challenges the organisation may have with delivery.

    Thought Leadership

    Developing common understanding of problems, utilising both internal and external knowledge/data sources to illustrate problems and solutions. Socialising ‘white papers’ that encapsulate research findings and engage A community around a better future.

    Team Management

    Work management, setting delivery objectives, management of work pipeline, allocation of work and monitoring and reporting on delivery progress.

    Line management of the team, setting development objectives, providing stretching work opportunities, considering succession planning and undertaking the annual review process.

    We are looking for someone with a driven,‘can-do’ attitude and a strong sense of ownership that enables you to get the job done in a practical and pragmatic fashion.

     

    Job Requirements

    You will have a range of experience in project management and demonstrable experience of some though not all items below. We recognise the list represents a broad range of capabilities, lack of knowledge in any area will not preclude success in this role, as long as there is an ability to learn!

    • Practical experience of project delivery and good knowledge of different approaches including techniques for planning, monitoring, data analysis, reporting etc. Alternatively you may have worked in a consultancy environment and can use wide experience to coordinate and provide inhouse consultancy to the business in both a traditional waterfall or agile context.
    • You understand and can advocate for the value and concepts that underpin good governance and assurance. Practical experience and understanding of concepts of auditing, auditing qualifications or history working with assurance and quality teams in the past would be advantageous.
    • Understanding of the support a PMO offers and the experience to enable you to have immediate impact within the business.
    • Experience with compliance to key standards including ISO9001; providing quality assurance reviews and health checks on projects.
    • Experience of having supported the implementation of business change within organisations perhaps using tools like ADKAR to help embed change.
    • Develop strong, trusting and credible working relationships across the business, demonstrating that you can consult and guide effectively.
    • Qualified as a PMI PMP, Prince2 Practitioner, SAFe, MSP Practitioner, ScrumMaster or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of key project management tools including Microsoft Project, JIRA, Business Objects, PowerBI, Tableau and the Microsoft suite of applications.
    • Written and oral communications skills and great interpersonal skills that can be executed credibly to encourage confidence in you and the team!
