    Job Description

Arm is looking to welcome a Architecture Engineer into the Central Technology team, based in our Cambridge or Trondheim office, working to help us deliver machine-readable specification technologies related to our media processors, including Graphics, Display, and Machine Learning Processors.

We'd like you to bring passions for software development, the power of working as a team, and personal development and, in return, the team will provide you with mentorship, a collaborative environment for you to grow your career, and exposure to technology that will be the foundation for the innovative products for years to come.

Our team creates machine-readable specifications of the architectures used by Arm's media processor family, together with tools for authoring and transforming these specifications. Our system architects then use our specifications and tools to implement hardware, build driver software, drive verification, and use models to explore new techniques and architectures for the future.

Your role will be to collaborate and grow with us as a peer in the team, learning about new technologies we're developing, contributing code and ideas, implementing new algorithms into our deliveries, reviewing your peer's code and improving our authoring and delivery mechanisms.

The Central Technology team at Arm plays a central role in the entire lifecycle of Arm's products. They enable early architectural exploration in collaboration with our modelling teams, defining the architecture of our hardware and software products, and they build specifications, tools, and services, that enable our teams to create the technology that empowers the world.

Software at Arm today is developed using modern, industry-standard tools and techniques. We value the art of great code-reviews (and reviewers), get excited by testing early and frequently with the use of automated continuous integration tools and take satisfaction when our teams pull together and achieve success with products based on our specifications.

    Job Requirements

    • A creative and structured approach to problem-solving
    • Hands-on experience coding in Python, or very strong skills in at least one other language and an ability to learn quickly.
    • A familiarity with XML or similar document technology such as HTML
    • A strong will and eagerness for learning and self-improvement

Any of the following skills would help you progress quicker, however we will invest our time in developing these skills in you if you don't have them yet:

    • A passion for modern Python (3.6+)
    • An understanding of hardware architecture
    • Experience with Linux, scripting and source control systems (e.g. Git, Subversion).
    • Exposure of modern software development concepts (e.g. Continuous Integration, iterative development)

At Arm, we are guided by our core beliefs that reflect our rare culture and guide our decisions, defining how we work together to defy ordinary and shape extraordinary:
