    Job Description

    Functional Safety Manager
    Location: Lund, Sweden
    Contract Type: Permanent

    We need a hardworking, creative, self-reliant functional safety manager for our office in Cambridge OR in Lund, which will play an integral part in the safety authority of our technologies.

    Your new company

    As a Functional Safety Manager, a new role within the Machine Learning (ML) Engineering Group, you will be authority on all things related to safety of ML's products. You will also engage with the wider industry to reason about what safety means for deep neural networks.

    This is a rare opportunity for you to become a part of the Arm Machine Learning group and be at the forefront of advanced Neural Network Processor IP products. You will join an international team of creative engineers working together to drive this adoption of machine learning.

    Your new role

    Primarily responsible for the functional safety activities within the ML group. This includes working with Engineering Directors to execute Arm's functional safety process, managing creation of safety related work products as well as being the review authority. You may also need to coordinate assessment and audit activities.

    Provide guidance and mentoring to the engineering and project management teams. Encouraging the safety culture within the organisation and build training plans to develop the team.

    You will also work with Functional Safety community within Arm to improve methodologies, tools and practices to enable efficient application and adoption of safety processes.

    There is an opportunity to lead the interactions with our partners and industry bodies for safety topics related to Machine Learning, for example helping the industry reason about the safety of Deep Neural Networks and what implications that has for Arm's products.

    Job Requirements

    What you’ll need to succeed

    Experience with managing programmes that follow ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508, IEC 61511, EN 5012X, DO-254, DO-178C safety standards as well as developing functional safety processes and documentation, in particular for software products and tools is a must have.

    Ideally you will also have a certification as a functional safety professional and/or assessor as well as experience with the design of semiconductor IP, processing units, or software.

    You are passionate about Machine Learning and have a reasonable understanding of the technology and how it is used in automotive applications.

    About the office

    The Arm Lund office is comprised of hardware and software developers working with future versions of the Arm Graphics Processing and Machine Learning technology. The office is located in the province of Skåne at the most southern tip of Sweden, just a stone's throw across the water from Copenhagen in Denmark via the Öresund Bridge which connects the two countries. The province is well known for its beautiful scenery, high quality of life as well as being home to Lund University and a range of tech companies.
